Escorted Transportation Services
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this program is on hold. It will open as soon as it’s safe to transport older adults to and from medical appointments. Please check back here for updates or visit our homepage to sign up to receive our monthly e-newsletter with the latest Center news and information.
This volunteer-based program provides ambulatory seniors over the age of 60 with transportation to and from medical and dental appointments Monday through Friday for appointments scheduled between 9:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. As a rider, your home and medical/dental appointment must both be located within the following areas:
- South of Half Day Road/Route 22
- North of Howard Street
- East of Milwaukee Avenue in Morton Grove, Niles and South Glenview
- East of I-294 in Glenview, Northbrook, Deerfield and Bannockburn
- East to Lake Michigan
The volunteer driver provides round trip, door-to-door service and waits during the appointment. The driver is not able to make other stops. There is a $12 round-trip fee which will be billed to you at the end of the month. Riders DO NOT give money to the driver. (New Trier Township residents are eligible for a $6 round-trip fee.)
Please note that Escorted Transportation Service (ETS) is intended for the occasional appointment; multiple requests per week by an individual typically cannot be accommodated.
To participate in ETS, call North Shore Senior Center to register at 847.784.6257. A form will be sent to you for completion. Once registered, you will be given the ETS phone number which is the voicemail line for transportation requests. Please note: All requests for rides must be made two weeks in advance.
